Turns out I /will/ be in Japan for winter vacation, so I'll be attending Winter Comiket! :D
For those unfamiliar with Japanese doujinshi events, this is a massive three day fanworks convention with tens of thousands of participating artists -- and many more attendees. The doujin circles have already started to hear back whether or not they managed to get drawn in the lottery for a space at this event, so keep an eye out -- your favorite group might be attending!

Cosplay and Priority Circles: I plan on cosplaying again, probably all days -- the winter temperatures are much easier to deal with than summer. Since I have a bit of experience with these events now, here's the priority game plan:
1. Attend [first building, first hall set]
2. Attend [first building, second hall set]
3. Check time, probably head to cosplay area
4. Attend [second building, remaining halls]
5. Double-back and see if latecomers showed up at all.
Physically, halls are split up into East and West buildings, with two sets of open-plan halls in each building. I will probably go to either East or West hall first, then cosplay, then attend the remaining hall. (For example: East 4-5-6 is first priority, East 1-2-3 is second priority, then cosplay prep, then West 1-2.) When I get more information about who is attending where, I will post up here the attendance order. If I have more time than expected, I'll try getting all the shopping done in the morning.
Placing an Order:
❀ Send me an email to feikoi❀gmail.com, with "C81" in the subject line and the following information:
Minimal Form
Full Form
If you know the prices of your items, that helps me a lot in keeping track at the event. But I know a lot of circles don't list those, so that's okay too.
Commission and Fees:
Payment:
Payment is through PayPal, preferably in USD (currently, Y1000=$13.50, to account for my bank's fees =.=). Please let me know if you'd prefer to pay in JPY.
Deposit of up to $10.00 per item is due prior to the event, by the listed deadline of December 22nd (EST). The amount of the deposit paid will be subtracted from the final total to calculate the amount due. (I will discuss the expected deposit amount with you when the order is placed.)
EVENT SUMMARY:
NAME: Comic Market 81
DATE: December 29-31 (31st attendance is tentative)
ORDER DEADLINE: December 22nd, EST (item lists may be altered after this point)
DEPOSIT DEADLINE: December 22nd, EST

(I'm probably forgetting stuff, let me know if you need any clarification! Will update again this week.)

If you know the prices of your items, that helps me a lot in keeping track at the event. But I know a lot of circles don't list those, so that's okay too.
Commission and Fees:
- General commission is Y800 per regular circle, or 30% the cost of items from each circle, whichever is greater.
- Due to likelihood of massive lines, wall circles will also incur a Y500 fee. At C81, wall circles are A, シ, あ, れ sections. Wall circle fees will not be applied to the last priority section, unless there's still a significant line at that point in the event.
- Special goods (non-flat, fragile, or larger than B5 size) will incur an additional fee, usually Y200 per item.
- The grand total will also include cost of items, shipping and handling (your choice of method) and PayPal fees.

Date: 2011-11-30 10:18 am (UTC)❀ INK: simple copybon, but love their Watchmen/T&B art, so...
❀ Pink Joker: also simple art, not bad, but not my abs. fave, ymmv
❀ Noema-Noesis: The art style is a little different, older? Not remotely cutesy.
❀ Cheese Film: Not bad! A little rough in the copybon I have, and sometimes with the pretty pretty eyelash eyes, lol, but I'd check it out again.
❀ denti0: I like. Drawing style is maybe more mainstream?
❀ 3355: RPS, all decent lineart (pretty much no shading)
❀ 666: Nice art, more anime-style. Humor, bad-guys-centric.
❀ Daimon(?): Azazel-centric book, I like the art a lot.
❀ Ashige: group of artists that do Marvel anthologies, at least half comics. Latest was for XMFC -- I always love

From:a few questions
Date: 2011-11-30 07:28 pm (UTC)If the circle sells more than one doujinshi do you change addition fees?
For example if one circle sells 3 different doujinshi and I ask you to pick it up all 3.
Is the total 800 yen (commission fee) + the grand total for the doujinshi you pickup
Re: a few questions
Date: 2011-11-30 09:03 pm (UTC)Also this happen a lot when I make an order for GO NEXT 2
A lot of circle made last-minute announcements so do you know if this is the same with Comiket.
If I already paid for one order, can I sent to you another order with pay after your order deadline date but before December 29.
Re: a few questions
Date: 2011-12-01 09:23 am (UTC)Re: deposit. You can pay in yen if you want, but my PayPal account is American. So whatever amount USD it converts to is what I'll be marking down on the invoice. (With payments in JPY, I get hit with conversion fees twice -- once by PayPal, and again when I withdraw money from a Japanese ATM.)
Re: last minute announcements. Since I'll have the catalog, I can at least check whether your circles are attending or not. I know they usually don't make announcements on available books until right before the event, so I allow changes to orders (list of titles, cancellation of a circle, etc.) up til a few days before the event. I need the deposit so early because it takes 3-4 days to transfer to my bank, and Japanese ATMs are often closed or empty for the New Years holiday... (
